THEY’RE getting ready to party at Laund Hill.
Huddersfield YMCA Rugby Club is holding their 9th ‘Concert on the Hill’ this Saturday and the organisers are confident the event will be its usual great success.
Sponsored again by the Kingsgate Centre, Huddersfield, there will be usual features Lindley Band performing alongside Colne Valley and Honley Male Voice choirs. There will also be special items from popular guest soprano Julia Garbutt.
The show will feature songs from the Musicals and other well known standards.
There will be the usual audience participation of a medley of favourite songs. Union Jacks, flags and balloons along with a ‘Last night of the Proms’ musical selection, with fireworks.
Compere David Roebuck said: “We were delighted to see the ‘Concert in the Park’ last weekend followed our format and was an excellent event enjoyed by all.
“We are confident we can provide an evening’s entertainment of an equal standard.
We may not have a big stage, sound and professional lighting sets that cost tens of thousands of pounds but we have a very experienced local line up who will ensure everyone who attends will have a great ‘community’ night out.”
“We are very proud our event has raised over pounds 10,000 for Huddersfield charities”.
Gates open at 5pm for pre-concert entertainment featuring John Pashley and his New Orleans Parade Jazz Band. The concert itself starts at 7.15pm.
Pre purchased tickets cost pounds 8 and are available from Kirklees Information Centre, The YMCA Clubhouse (phone 654052) or at a cost of pounds 10 on the night.
