IN a new book, Stephen Hawking says God was not necessarily involved in the creation of the universe. It arose naturally from physical law.

I think he’s wrong. God made it as part of a series of DIY programmes on Intergalactic TV.

The task was to make an undeveloped universe habitable in a week.

Being a supreme deity as well as a TV producer, God was able to recruit volunteers from the future. His first helper was Anneka Rice, to whom he issued the challenge: “Let there be light.” With the help of BBC electricians, Anneka, below, had the lights working in just one day.
